Hotel Royal Hoi An
MGallery is a collection of memorable hotels, each of which owns a unique story and distinctive design. Combining the delicacy of Japanese touch and the luxury of Indochina architecture, Hotel Royal Hoi An is the first and only MGallery property in Hoi An, as well as a proud member of the elite collection in Vietnam. Standing majestically alongside the tranquil and beautiful Thu Bon River, Hotel Royal Hoi An featuring 187 rooms and suites dazzles the eyes with elegant decorations, intuitive design and a fascinating love story that dates back to centuries ago.
It all began with Sotaro Araki, a merchant from Nagasaki, who lived between the late 16th and the early 17th century. During this period, Japanese traders actively flocked to trading ports in Southeast Asia and as the most famous trading destination at the time, Hoi An or Faifo, its former name, welcomed thousands of Japanese merchants. Allegedly accumulating a substantial fortune from his trades across the region, Sotaro fell in love with Princess Ngoc Hoa, a member of royal family native to Hue, upon his visit to Vietnam in 1619 and married her. The marriage is regarded as the first to involve a Vietnamese citizen and an international at the time. After the nuptial, the Japanese merchant returned home with his newly wed wife and constructed an emporium in Motoshikkui, Nagasaki. Princess Ngoc Hoa, whose Japanese name is Wakaku, was affectionately called Aniosan and widely accepted by the Nagasaki residents.
Inspired by the rich heritage of Hoi An town and the love story between Sotaro and Wakaku, our designers brought together an iconic 5-star hotel in the heart of Hoi An. Sotaro Wing offers a harmonious blend of Japanese tradition and Indochinese luxury, that is enhanced by glamorously feminine touches in Wakaku Wing. Hoi An means 'peaceful meeting place', and Hotel Royal Hoi An captures the essence of Hoi An, UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its tranquillity, architectural surround and warmth. It is a place where honeymooners, families and travellers meet, relax and dine amidst the unique architecture, stunning surrounds and fine restaurants. For an evening wine down, enjoy a glass of cocktail under the sunset sky at the city's tallest rooftop bar, The Deck Hoi An or a refreshing swim at the hotel's rooftop pool with sweeping views overlooking Hoi An and Thu Bon river, reflecting all the heritage and charm of this unique destination.
